Write a few paragraphs reflecting on the following questions. Post your reflection to your blog.
- How well do you think you did in the first major speech? What went well and what did not go very well and why?
- What two aspects of delivery do you think you will need to improve for the next speech?
- What strategies will you use for that purpose?
1.) My research and analysis was strong as well as the organization of my points. My delivery suffered because I was nervous and relied to heavily on my powerpoint while speaking.
ReplyDelete2.) eye contact with the audience, slowing down the speech
3.) confidence and practicing my speech without a powerpoint
1. I think I did ok on the first major speech, however, I know that I can improve. I think I had a good presentation, but I was really nervous and did not elaborate as much as I had plan to.
ReplyDelete2 For the next speech, I plan to practice more so I can feel more comfortable in front of the class. I also need to practice not using filler words and making more eye contact with the audience.
3. I am going to practice my speech more before hand so I can feel more comfortable in front of the class.
I think I overall did pretty well on the first major speech. The powerpoint and analysis of my commercial was strong and well done, but I could have made more eye contact and been more engaging. The two delivery aspects I need to work on are eye contact and maybe changing my tone. My strategy will be to just practice and try to improve each time.
ReplyDeleteI think I did fairly well in the first major speech, as it went better than I thought it would. My speech was focused and I think I analyzed well because it was a commercial that made an impact on me and I still remember. I did get more nervous for the final speech, however, so I don't think my delivery went as well as it did for the rehearsal.
ReplyDeleteThe two aspects I think I will need to improve on for the next speech are volume and just looking for confident and comfortable up in front.
The strategies I will use to improve are maybe recording my practices and reminding myself that every person is in the same situation, so I can relax.
I think I did a good job on my first speech. I spoke at a good volume, I used my space, and I had a pretty good visual aid. However, I did look at the floor at some points, so one thing I could work on is eye contact with the audience. Another part of the delivery I could clean up might be changing up my tone of voice more. To fix the eye contact issue, I will need to practice in front of people, which I did not do enough for the first speech. For the tone of voice variation, I could maybe choose a topic I care more about so it isn't hard to speak passionately.
ReplyDeleteI think there still are some aspects that I need to improve. I talked about the commercial in details, but I jumped around topics too often.
ReplyDeleteThe two aspects that I need to improve are volume and action. When I feel nervous, I speak in a very low voice and flat tone, and I don't move during the speech.
In order to improve the two aspects above, first I can try to practice more and try to practice as I am actually doing the speech to a broad audience. Second I can add the gestures or movement in my prompt to remind me of them, and practice more.
I think that I did fairly well on my final speech. I personally have a lot I need to work on including confidence, more in depth effectiveness, and better eye contact. This speech was a very good way to get out of my comfort zone. My rehearsal speech was a bit rough, but I think that I did a great job fixing what needed to be fixed. For my next speech I am going to practice a lot more so that I know exactly what I am talking about so that I do not have to glance at my slides as much. Overall I think that the class as a whole did a great job for their first speech in this class.
ReplyDeleteI think I did a decent job in my first speech. I really focused on slowing down and taking pauses. I think I needed more in the effectiveness. Next speech I need to work on moving around more and not bringing notes that I just end up destroying, I will do that by practicing more.
ReplyDeleteI was very nervous in the beginning before the rehearsal and final speech because of all the things that I have planned for myself. However, after you start speaking the nerves starts to dissipate and it makes you more focused on giving the information rather than thinking about all the things that can go wrong. Although, my first rehearsal speech didn't go as well as I'd like, but I think I did pretty good on the second speech. At first I wasn't very organized about my information and I didn't find visual aids on the assignment sheet so I forgot to make one. Overall, I was still confident in my tone, but I did get more organized about my information and I believe my slide show is very appealing.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to improve on getting more in depth about my analysis because I tend to just breeze over the topic. It is also due to the fact that I am not very good at memorizing a script even with keywords on the slides. However, I believe I just need to practice more, just like the final presentation was better than the rehearsal. Overall, I think I did pretty well on the delivery aspect.
The key to giving a good speech is practicing, and the more I do it the better I'll be. I'll try to practice more to make the script more natural and less of memorizing.
I think my grade for the first speech was not bad, and I was doing well on powerpoint designed which I had colorful and abundant images. However, I felt nervous when I was talking, so I didn't do well on eye contacts with audiences. I will try to practice more at home before I talk on class, which can make me feel proficient and comfortable next time.
ReplyDeleteI thought I did fairly well on the speech as a whole. I felt like in my rehearsal I was more confident on my speech, but I felt that the information in my second speech was better and proved my point more. I feel that I had a good use of my body and I spoke loud to the audience. I also felt that I had not very many fillers which was something that I worked on prior to my speech. Two parts of my delivery that I should work on is one being a little more confident. I feel like a lacked some confidence because I changed my speech up from the rehearsal and I wasn't as sure of myself with the new information. Also you told me that I should work on changing my tone to express more feelings in y words. I agreed with that and I feel like if I worked on my tone I could really touch deep and connect with my audience.
ReplyDeleteSome strategies I will use to improve my speech would be to practice is more. I only practiced a hand full of times and if I practiced more I feel like I would have been more confident during my speech. Which would then improve the overall quality of my speech. Another way I can help make my speech better is in regards to tone. improving tone is challenging however, if I write my speech to have expression by making things sad and then happy I feel that naturally this will help me add tone to my speeches in the future and on my next speech.
Overall, I believe I did pretty well on the speech. I spoke fluently and confidently throughout my speech, which made the audience want to listen a little more. Then again, my information was lacking a little bit and I could have definitely added more for each slide.
ReplyDeleteThe first aspect of delivery I need to work on is not swaying while speaking. When I sway it takes the attention off of the presentation and puts it on me. The second aspect of delivery that I need to work on is preparedness. I knew what I was saying during the speech, but I didn't have enough info.
The strategy I would use is to find more sources. This will help in providing more information and in being more prepared.
I think the class, as a whole, did good on the first speech. The class was very focused throughout their speech and the content was done well by everyone. I think the class could work on the delivery more than the content. I personally need to work on tone and speed to improve my second speech. I plan to practice more and practice in front of a mirror or peers. Overall, I think we did good but always room for improvement.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I did fine. The two aspects I think I will need to improve on are feeling a little bit more comfortable, and my tone. I felt that I was able to remember and convey all of my thoughts to the audience while still talking very slowly and making eye contact. The only parts I felt did not go very well were in the delivery, as I said before I think the main problems are the two things I said I need to work on. I will just try and read a few articles on how to be more comfortable and maybe try and practice my speech more.

ReplyDelete1. I think my first major speech went fairly well. I think my arguments were strong but my delivery of the speech could be improved. I think my arguments were strong because they were backed up by specific details from the commercial. I think my delivery of the speech could be improved because I talked too fast and I was very nervous.
ReplyDelete2. One aspect of the delivery I need to improve on is the speed. I need to talk slower so it is easier to follow along. Another aspect I can improve on is my nervousness. I was very nervous and therefore shaky and uncomfortable.
3. To improve upon these aspects I will practice the speech more to become more comfortable. I will also practice slowing down to make the speech easier to follow.
